Thor (drawing) by Quelchii Thor (drawing) by Quelchii
Traditional drawing of Thor. My favourite Avenger and my second favourite MCU character, so I probably put a bit more effort/time into this drawing!
Drawing his face at this tiny scale still gives me nightmares (just don't take a closer look at it and just admire the other details and stuff ^^;)... But I'm very, very happy with the shiny parts of his armor and his left hand with the hammer!

Reference was a production still of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) from the movie Thor The Dark World (2013).

Paper DIN A4 190g/m²; Faber-Castell Polychromos artists' colour pencils, Copic Ciao marker, Copic Multiliner 0.3 & SP 0.03, uni-ball Signo pigment ink um-153 white; time: 30 hours

Please don't upload my pictures somewhere else without my permission. Don't infringe copyright!

How many layers does this paper take before it stops taking the pencils?  I'm struggling to find paper that can handle all my layers... Thus I get this grainy non smooth look :(  You're drawings are so smooth and full!  I love them!

Thanks!
This perfect paper takes 4-5 layers or more. My new crappy no name paper takes 3-4 layers max and it's also too grainy. But a marker base layer (and another technique that I'll probably show in an upcoming tutorial) helps to get a smoother look. I have only 5 sheets left of my good paper and I'm still saving it for large projects (like MCU Phase villains,...). :(

Guy, i've just compared with the original photo and found that the dimension is very very accurate. I think i can guess the technic of your drawing, you use lighting or lamp to make your drawing accurate by put the origin model upon the lamp than you sketch it and colorize. CMIIW. Otherwise this looks like photoshop effect

Well, I take this as a compliment (although I still see some mistakes). It's true that I don't do free hand sketches without any helping techniques that often, but I don't trace. I use the grid method. For this drawing I used a very small grid to get it as accurate as possible. The outlines took me many hours (if I remember that right it was something about 8 hours???). Here is one of my step by step tutorials with explanations, by the way: Traditional (mixed media) tutorial I hope this can help you to understand my technique. :) If you would've asked me 3 years ago if it's possible to draw like that I would've answered "No.". Now I really regret that I didn't start to draw earlier (I took a huge drawing break for 6 years).
By the way: sometimes I use a canvas, very thick paper (>300m/m²), black paper or draw in sketch card size. In my opinion tracing is impossible on this kind of media. ;)

I've seen worse. And only 0,1% of the comments are like that so it's ok for me. ;) But maybe I should really prepare a F.A.Q. soon, so that I don't have to waste time with something like this anymore...
