Description
The beautiful flower of the carnivorous plant Utricularia campbelliana with water drops.
This plant is a rare epiphytic bladderwort (Utricularia, section Orchidioides) from the Tepuis in South America (Venezuela, Guyana, Brazil).
When I started to cultivate carnivorous plants 10 years ago I had only one goal: One day I wanted to see this flower in my terrarium! But the problem is that U. campbelliana is very difficult to cultivate (low temperatures at night, much light, high humidity -> mist system, special substrate,...) and grows relatively slowly. After 10 years and a few attempts I finally reached my goal. For me this is one of the most beautiful carnivorous plants! I hope that I can see this species (and Utricularia quelchii) one day in natural habitat.
Reference picture (I used a high resolution picture!): www.utricularien.de/karnivoren…
Paper DIN A4 (size of the drawing: 17,2cm x 18cm) 190g/m², Faber-Castell Polychromos artists' colour pencils, ~12h?
New entry in my "never-draw-this-again-list": water drops...

Here some other colored pencil drawings:

Nice Utricularia! That is quite the striking red color. Have you ever tried Genlisea or Pinguicula?
